Episode 27 - Revival or survival

In this episode we look at the issue of ‘revival’ and repentance. We also discuss the recent decision in the Church of England to introduce the ‘blessing’ of same-sex relationships, and the suspension of a lecturer at a theological college for expressing orthodox Christian views on homosexuality. We end with a look at some of the pandemic truths reaching the mainstream media, and a reminder to contend for the faith entrusted to us.

Episode 26 - Abortion: Is the Gospel big enough?

In this special episode we speak to Dave Brennan from Brephos, a project committed to helping churches respond to abortion. This is a sensitive but important subject, and we look at the realities of abortion, the Biblical theology of the unborn, why the church needs to talk about abortion, and the ethics around the use of cell lines from aborted babies (including in the development of the COVID vaccines). We end with a reminder of the hope which the gospel of Christ offers, a gospel which is big enough to speak into the pain of abortion, and the reality of God’s grace.

Episode 23 - A year in review...

We also mention a few heroes of the year who have made a stand for truth, called those in power to account, been willing to pay the price for speaking out and have taken the narrow and difficult path. Episode 17 - Live not by lies

In this episode we review Rod Dreher’s book ‘Live not by Lies’, a title taken from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s call and example as an anti-communist dissident. Dreher warns of the dangers of ’soft totalitarianism’ in the West, and the particular challenge it poses to Christians and to the family. We discuss how to live in truth, and the merits of Dreher’s SEE, JUDGE, ACT refrain: 
SEE: be awake to the realities around you
JUDGE: discern the meaning in terms of what you know to be true (and especially Christianity)
ACT: to resist evil
 
This is an important book which we highly recommend.
 
Linked to the issue of totalitarianism, we also mention the Frankfurt Declaration which we suggest that all Christians read and consider signing.
