In this episode we discuss the farmers' protest in London following the government's decision to introduce inheritance tax for farmers in the recent budget, now known as the 'family farm tax'. We consider the devastating impact this will have, why it matters and how it is part of a bigger picture which is important to recognise. We finish with a timely challenge from Morgoth suggesting we (including farmers) need to be good men rather than nice guys, and a sobering but encouraging reading from Habbakuk 3:17-18.

Episode 41 - No replacement

Thursday Oct 19, 2023

Thursday Oct 19, 2023

In this episode we discuss the unfolding situation following the recent attacks by Hamas on Israel, and why it is important to approach the issue with a Biblical worldview. We talk about the way the conflict has been portrayed in the mainstream media, and the tensions which have arisen within the ‘awake’ arena. We conclude with a focus on the Bible and how God speaks through it to us today, and a reminder from the beginning of Romans that both the gospel and God’s judgment are first for the Jew and then for the Gentile, with salvation only through faith in Jesus.

Friday Aug 25, 2023

In this episode we look at a few issues in the news including the possibility of a covid resurgence and return to masks, Christian Climate Action urging charities to boycott Barclays Bank, and a new network of scientists resisting the climate crisis narrative: The World Climate Declaration. We discuss the importance of being ready to answer difficult questions as Christians, in the light of singer Lauren Daigle’s failure to do so, and we review Jonathan Pageau’s very helpful explanation of the notion of conspiracy theories. We finish with some thoughts on the war in Ukraine, understanding the complexity of the situation and the role the West has played in fuelling the conflict instead of seeking peace. Our Bible passage 1 John 5:18-20 leaves us with a warning and an encouragement!
